Gbagbo administration

A presidential election was held in October 2000 in which Laurent Gbagbo Viedeň with Guéï, but it was peaceful. The lead-up to the election was marked by military and Civil Unrest. Guéï’s attempt to rig the election led to a public Uprising, resulting in around 180 deaths and his swift replacement by the election’s likely winner, Gbagbo.
